BOSCH EESTI MAASTIKURATTASARI 2024 SEASON RULES AND REGULATIONS
 

1. BOSCH EESTI MAASTIKURATTASARI is a series of different mountain-biking marathons in Estonia, which are held in compliance with the regulations of the Estonian Cyclists Union (EJL) and the competition regulations of the International Cyclists' Union (UCI).

NB! Every marathon is preceeded by the so-called Open Track races, which usually take place a week before the marathon, in order to introduce the marathon tracks. In some cases, the routes of the races are already marked for Open Track ride, in some cases different tempsgroups are formed, led by riders, knowing the track. More detailed information about the Open Track races can be seen under the general information of each cycling marathon, the calendar of the Open Track races is following:

3. During each marathon, Main race, Halfmarathon and Kid's races will be held. In addition to these races, two stages of the series will also include XXL-race, with much longer and more extreme challenge than the usual main race. The Main race is usually 45-50 km long, the Halfmarathon is up to 21 km long, and the XXL-race is 65-80 km long. The Kid's races have separate regulation and could be found under in the general information of each separate marathon.

 

4. Main race will start at 12:00. The starting times of all other races are different for each stage and will be announced for each specific marathon separately. 

 

5. Registration: (except the registration on the spot) can be made via internet on the website: www.rattamaratonid.ee. The entry fee includes: a marked racing track, start number with a timing chip, timing (provided only when the start number is correctly attached), service at food stops on the track and after the finish, awarding of the best riders, a diploma for the riders who finish with results (printable from the internet, for Kid's races on the spot), a possibility to wash the bike, medical assistance if necessary.

In order to re-register for free, the person who withdraws from participation must send a notification with the data of the new registrant to the e-mail address info@rattamaratonid.ee no later than 18:00 on the Wednesday of the week of the race.

5.1. Re-registration from distance to distance within the stage takes place until the Wednesday of the week of the race via e-mail info@rattamaratonid.ee or on the spot on the day of the race.

5.2. Advanced registration for series packages ends on April 24, 2024 at 24:00.

5.3. The first phase of registration ends on Wednesday of the previous week of the race day, at 24:00.

5.4. The second phase of registration ends on Wednesday of the same week of the race day, at 24:00.

5.5. Registration on the the spot ends 30 minutes before the start.

5.6. In case the registered rider cannot participate ib the race, the entry fee will not be refunded nor will be transferred to the following stages.

5.7. Any registration payments received later than the deadlines stated in the Racing Regulations will not be taken into consideration and the registered person will not be included to the starting list. The delayed payments will not be refunded.

5.8. In case of cancellation or postponement of the cycling marathon Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari for reasons beyond the control of the organizers, the participation fee will not be refunded.

 

6. Riding Numbers and Division into Groups

6.1. Riding numbers will be distributed to the riders on the racing day at the starting point from 10am, except for stages with XXL-race, in which case the start time of issuing numbers is indicated in the stage schedule.

6.2. The drawing up of the start list considering riders' previous results will end together with the second phase of registration. Riders who register later will be placed into the last starting group.

6.3. The starting numbers are generally based on the place of each rider’s best stage of the current year in the Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari. In addition, the competitor's 2023 results in the Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari, 2023 Tartu Rattamarathon and 2022 results in the Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari are taken into account. The starting place is calculated based on the following coefficients (starting place 2024 = coefficient x previous result).

- Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari 2023 season's best place in the stage, coefficients = Main Race 1.2;  Youth and Hiking Race 1,2; XXL Race 3.0 (for the stage with XXL Race, the coefficient of the Main Race is 2.2)

- Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari 2022 season's best place in the stage, coefficients = Main Race 1.5; Youth and Hiking Race 1.5; XXL Race 3.5 (for the stage with XXL Race, the coefficient of the Main Race is 2.5)

- Only in the first stage of the season, Tartu Rattamaraton 89km racing stage 2023, coefficient = 0.5

6.4. The start groups of the XXL-race are divided into 50 participants as follows: 1001-1050, 1051-1100, 1101-1150, 1151-1200, etc.

6.5. The starting groups of the Main Race are divided by 50 participants as follows: 1-50, 51-100, 101-150, 151-200, 201-250, 251-300, 301-350, 351-400, 401-500, 501-600, etc.

6.5. In Halfmarathon starting groups are divided into 50 participants as follows: 2001-2050, 2051-2100, 2101-2150, etc.

6.6. Re-registered riders will be placed into the last starting group.

6.7. The Head Referee has the right to make changes in the starting groups, in order for the safer starts. The Head Referee has the right to place athletes with Estonian or International Cyclists' Union licence 'Elite', 'U-23' or 'M-18' into the first starting group.

6.8. The preliminary start list will be published on the internet, on the page www.rattamaratonid.ee  no later than 24h before the race.

 

7.Scorekeeping

7.1. In order to get the result, the rider must wear the rider’s starting number visibly on the handlebar with the timing chip attached to the back of the number from the moment he/she enters the start corridor until he/she crosses the finish line.

7.2. In the XXL-race, according to each stage, the first 6 finishers receive points as follows: 1500, 1490, 1482, 1476, 1472, 1470. Every following place until the 15th place gets 2 points less than the previous one. Starting from the 16th place, every following place until the 15th place gets 2 points less than the previous one.

7.3 In the stage of the series without XXL Race, the first 6 finishers of the Main Race will receive points as follows: 1500, 1490, 1482, 1476, 1472, 1470. Every following place until the 15th place gets 2 points less than the previous one. Starting from the 16th place, every following place until the 15th place gets 2 points less than the previous one.

7.4 In the stage of the series with XXL race, the first 6 finishers of the Main Race will receive points as follows: 1480, 1470, 1462, 1456, 1452, 1450. Every following place until the 15th place gets 2 points less than the previous one. Starting from the 16th place, every following place until the 15th place gets 2 points less than the previous one.

7.5. The intermediate finish is on the longest race of the stage.

7.6 For the most active rider, reward points are distributed to the best 5 in the intermediate finish as follows: 10, 7, 5, 3, 1.

7.7. Score keeping in the Halfmarathon:

1st place: 1250 points; every following place until 5th place gets 5 points less;

5th place: 1230 points; every following place until 10th place gets 4 points less;

10th place: 1210 points; every following place until 20th place gets 3 points less;

20th place: 1180 points; every following place until 40th place gets 2 points less;

40th place 1140 points, every following place gets 1 point less.

7.8. The summary ranking of the Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari is determined by adding up the points (including bonus points) of the five (5) best stages of the competitor this year. The rider with the highest score is the winner of the series.

7.9. In case of equal scores, the rider’s best place in this year's Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari is taken into consideration to form the overall placing. If these are equal, the rider’s points of the next best stage will be considered, if they are also equal, then the rider’s best points of the last stage of the series will be taken into consideration etc.

7.10. The best rider will be found out by the overall points table.

7.11. The most active rider of the Bosch Eesti Maastikurattasari is determined by adding up the rider's seven (7) cycling marathon activity points.

7.11. The preliminary results of each cycling marathon stage will be published on the internet, on the website: www.rattamaratonid.ee  no later than the day after the race.

7.13. Reports about potential mistakes in the stage’s finishing protocol will be accepted until the Wednesday evening following the race, on the email address: info@rattamaratonid.ee

 

8. Team scoring

8.1. Team Race takes place in two classes - teams and women's teams.

8.2. Only women can be part of the women's team, every rider of the series can be a member of the team when riding with a timing chip.

8.3. Youth Team Race is held only at the Halfmarathon and also in two races - Youth Teams and Girls' Teams.

8.4. Young riders from M12, M14, N12, N14 and N16 classes can participate in the Youth Team Race and girls from the N12, N14 and N16 classes can participate in the Girls' Team Race.

8.5. A team must consists of 3 to 6 members.

8.6. In Team Race scoring, the points of the three best finishers of the team will be added up in each stage. According to the sum of collected points, the placing of the team within the stage and the teams, will be given points for the placing as follows:

1st place: 150 points;

2nd place: 145 points;

3rd place: 142 points;

4th place: 140 points;

5th place: 139 points, etc.

8.7. If the teams get the same number of points in a stage, the team whose best rider was ahead in the given stage gets the higher number of placing points.

8.8. The winner of the Team Race at the end of the series is the team that collects the greatest amount of placing points during the seven (7) cycling stages.

8.9. In the case of equal amount of team points, the teams’ best place in the last stage is taken into consideration to form the overall placing. If these are also equal then the teams’ next best place will be taken into consideration.

 

9. Age categories (based on birth years) and Race classes:

9.1. Main race (men): M-general ranking (born 2009 and earlier), M16 (2008-2009), M40 (1980-1984), M45 (1975-1979), M50 (1970-1974), M55 (1965-1969), M60 (1960-1964) M65 (born 1959 and earlier);

9.2. Main race (Women):  N-general ranking (born 2007 and earlier), N35 (1984-1988), N40 (1980-1984), N45 (1975-1979), N50 (born 1974 and earlier);

9.3. Halfmarathon (men): M12 (2012-2013), M14 (2010-2011), M70 (born in 1954 and earlier), Free Class (born in 2009 and earlier);

9.4. Halfmarathon (women): N12 (2012-2013), N14 (2010-2011), N16 (2008-2009), Free Class (2007 and earlier born);

9.5. XX-race: M-General ranking, N-General ranking (born in 2006 and earlier, who have turned 18 years old on the day of the race), M40 (1980-1984), M45 (born in 1979 and earlier)

 

10. Important Rules

10.1. No limitations will be made regarding the class/type of the bicycles. The use of a handlebars/extensions meant for individual time trials is forbidden.

10.2. Each rider may participate only under his/her name and among rider’s assigned group, only the Head Referee has the right to make changes.

10.3. A rider must complete the entire race course in order his/her result to be registered.

10.4. A rider is forbidden to use someone else help to move forward on the racing track.

10.5. Each rider must wear a helmet.

10.6. A rider is forbidden to change his/her bicycle during the racing course.

10.7. It is mandatory to follow traffic regulations, traffic controllers, traffic signs, sign posts and other regulations made by the organizers.

10.8. Throwing food packaging, drink bottles, etc. junk on the trail and into nature is STRICTLY PROHIBITED outside the designated garbage area!

10.9. The use of tandems, gondola-type bicycles, electric bicycles and other bicycles equipped with a non-standard or auxiliary power source is prohibited for all distances on the day of the race, the use of the bicycles listed above is only permitted for hiking on an Open Track.

10.10. A rider violating the regulations stated in paragraphs 10.1-10.9, the rider will be disqualified.

10.11. Event’s video recordings and photos also serve as the basis for disqualification.

 

11. Responsibility

11.1. Each participant assures that he/she is responsible for his/her own state of health and physical preparation and participates in the event entirely at his/her own risk and complies with the requirements of these regulations.

11.2. Each participant is responsible for his/her own safety and for the riders’ safety dependent on himself/herself.  

11.3. All riders under the age of 18 are under the responsibility of their parent or custodian.

13. Claims and Objections

13.1 Any claims, objections or protests regarding the race results, violating race regulations, etc., must be submitted to Head Referee within the following periods:

13.1.1. regarding the first hundred (100) finishers, within 1 hour after the 100th rider has crossed the finishing line;

13.1.2. regarding all other riders, the protest must be submitted before the finish closes (17:00).

13.2. When submitting a claim or an objection, 30 euros must be paid which will only be returned if the protest is satisfied.

13.3. All claims and objections submitted regarding the race will be solved by the Head Referee.

13.4. The cases that are not regulated by these Racing Regulations will be solved by the judging panel and/or organizing committee of the race.
